TOTTENHAM VICTORY IMPRESSES EX PLAYER

Tottenham have been under pressure of late with their last two results against Burnley and effectively ending their Premier League challenge. However, on Tuesday, the London club continued their quest in the Champions League with an away victory at German side Borussia Dortmund.

Holding a strong first leg advantage of three goals Tottenham were under barrage from Dortmund in the first half with keeper Hugo Lloris putting in a man of the match performance. The defence was also excellent with a number of last ditch tackles to prevent the German side from scoring.

Early in the second half, Moussa Sissoko put a pass-through for star striker Harry Kane who subsequently slotted the ball past Burki to give his side the lead.  The goal seemed to kill off any comeback from Dortmund as the game lost its flow.

One person impressed with this performance is former Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas. Watching the game as a pundit with BT Sport, he spoke of his delight that his former club had progressed into the quarterfinals.

Jenas also highlighted the performance of defender Jan Vertonghen as one of high quality. According to the player,Vertonghen was superb in both legs for Spurs and has become one of the best in his position in Europe.

Tottenham have shown growth in Europe this campaign it was at this stage last season that they lost to Juventus at home despite recording a favourable draw away in Italy. They are capable of beating any team on their day and would fancy their chances of making the Semi-Finals.

Pochettino has nothing to lose as the club are fairly secured in third place in the league and can focus his attention of putting up his best possible squad for the Champions League.
