Newcastle United recently created headlines

Newcastle United recently created headlines by completing the expensive purchase of Jonjo Shelvey from Swansea City for more than £ 12 million.

This was certainly a huge gamble from the team given that they have been flirting with relegation throughout the campaign. After having already experienced the worst of relegation only a few years ago, Newcastle were not expected to spend so heavily in the January transfer window. Furthermore, they have decided to go for a young player with limited experience in the Premier League. The former Liverpool midfielder is undoubtedly a great talent, but he has failed to deliver at big clubs in the past.

Jermaine Jenas believes that Manchester City’s major signing is good

Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas believes that Manchester City’s major signing of the summer – Raheem Sterling – will become one of the best players in world in the next few years.

The decision taken by Sterling to force his way out of Liverpool has left a lot of fans extremely pleased with the winger. However, he is turning out into a great acquisition for City. He has so far presented a massive leap in terms of quality over his replacement James Milner, who has moved the other way and joined Liverpool on a free transfer.

Jermaine Jenas has reacted in a sad manner

Jermaine Jenas has reacted in a sad manner to the current plight of his former club Newcastle United.

The former England international is now a pundit after having been forced to retire due to constant injury problems. He has not played a game in over a year since leaving QPR, and it is rather surprising considering that he is still just 32. English football saw the best of Jenas when he was at Newcastle. It was also a time when the club was fighting for a place in the Champions League. Since then, Tyneside has witnessed disappointing results for the club.

Jermaine Jenas says that he would reconsider signing for Newcastle United

Former England international Jermaine Jenas says that he would reconsider signing for Newcastle United if he was a young player.

Jenas played for Newcastle during the prime of his career. He represented the club in more than 100 matches during his three-year spell at St James’s Park. Back then, the club were in a position to challenge for the Champions League spots. Now, though, they have regressed a lot and struggle to even finish in the top 10 of the Premier League. On the positive side, owner Mike Ashley has made the club extremely profitable with more than £ 30 million in cash reserves alone.

Jermaine Jenas wants Tottenham to win League Cup

Former England midfielder Jermaine Jenas says that he wants his former club, Tottenham, to win the League Cup this year.

The 2015 Capital One Cup final will be a rematch of the 2008 League Cup final when Tottenham played against Chelsea at the new Wembley. Despite conceding the first goal, Tottenham managed to come back and get a 2-1 victory. It was the last trophy lifted by the North London outfit and they are looking to repeat the achievement in 2015. Despite the wishes of the former England midfielder, Chelsea secured a comfortable 2-0 win over their London rivals.

Jermaine Jenas lauded on James Effots

Jermaine Jenas has lauded James McCarthy’s effort for the Toffees in the game versus Lille.

On a social networking site, Jenas wrote, “There was no stopping James McCarthy at Goodison Park. The young man was absolutely brilliant. Well played.”

Although McCarthy did not manage to score any goal in that Europa League game but, he created a lot of opportunities and it would be fair to say that without his contribution, Everton might not have won the game as clinically as they did.

McCarthy’s hamstring has been a little tight of late and that’s why, he had looked a bit circumspect in his movements in the last few games, but, yesterday, he was at the top of his game.

Jermaine Jenas sees MC as struggling team in Chamion League

Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas has said that Manchester City appeared to be struggling in Europe because they did not start their Champions League run properly.

City have been one of the top teams in the Premier League by a comfortable margin. Despite having a squad full of experienced players like Yaya Touré, they have struggled to assert their superiority in the Champions League. They have failed to get past the last 16 stage and it is extremely surprising considering that the owners have spent more than £ 750 million just on players in the last five years.

Redknapp Happy To Sign Two Year Extension

QPR manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that he is set to sign a two-year extension to his contract, thus removing any fears of immediate retirement. The former Tottenham and Portsmouth manager guided QPR back to the Premier League at the first attempt. Their return to the Premier League has been followed by back-to-back defeats against Hull city and Tottenham. Despite this, there is confidence amongst QPR that Redknapp will be able to prevent the club going straight back down. This confidence has been demonstrated by a two-year extension that the manager is about to sign.

Mannone Signs Two Year Extension

Vito Mannone has decided to put pen on paper for a new deal with his current club Sunderland. The Italian shot stopper has signed a two-year extension which means that he would remain a Black Cat till the 2016-17 Season.

This has now put a full stop on all the speculations which had been drawn after Sunderland’s signing of Pantilimon, the Romania goalie.

Pantilimon’s arrival definitely means that Mannone is no longer going to be a certainty in the starting line up of Sunderland. He would be given tough competition for the no. 1 keeper’s slot.

It had been rumoured that Mannone was not happy to be put in such a situation by the Sunderland management and thus, he wanted to leave.

QPR Still Hoping Jenas Could Heal Before Season Start

QPR midfielder Jermaine Jenas is currently nursing a long-term injury that could take more than six months to heal properly, but his club have not given up hope on the midfielder returning to action in the near future. The 31-year-old former England international has suffered several injuries over the course of his career. The latest is a cruciate ligament injury that is rumoured to have put him on the verge of announcing his retirement. Jenas was one of the key players for QPR in their promotion campaign last season. However, manager Harry Redknapp will not be able to rely upon the former Tottenham star in the first few months of the new season.
