Hull City make bid for Jermaine Jenas
Newly promoted Premier League club Hull City AFC have offered £ 1.5 to Championship club Queens Park Rangers for England midfielder Jermaine Jenas and manager Steve Bruce believes it will be enough to land the Loftus Road midfielder with the relegated club looking to cut costs.
Bruce has turned his attentions to the former Newcastle United man after losing out on primary target Wilson Palacios of Stoke City. Bruce is targeting a central midfielder of Premier League pedigree and was targeting Palacios but it seems he has all but given up hope of landing the Honduran international who looks set to swap the Britannia Stadium for Queens Park Rangers with Harry Redknapp keen to clinch a deal for him after effectively giving up hope of landing Tottenham Hotspur man Scott Parker.
The former Spurs boss was willing to land the England midfielder and was ready to offer the £ 2 million price tag set by Andre Villas Boas but the move was hampered by Parker’s reluctance to drop down from the Premier League into the Championship with a World Cup year approaching.
And this has led to an unbelievable chain of events that has seen former Sunderland and Birmingham City boss Bruce go for another former Spurs player in the form of Jermaine Jenas. Bruce has already completed deals for six players in the summer transfer window as he looks to secure Premier League football after promotion with the signing of former Newcastle United goalkeeper Steve Harper on a yearlong deal.
According to Bruce, the vast majority of players in the squad at this moment are eager to prove themselves in the Premier League after not making the grade with several top clubs, such as the likes of James Chester and George Boyd and he hopes Jermaine Jenas will join them.
