AVB WILL LET PLAYERS GO
The Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has given the biggest indication that the players like Jermaine Jenas will be finally allowed to leave the club on a permanent basis.
The manager has said that he has already discussed the transfer targets and the possibility of selling a few players in the January transfer window with the chairman Daniel Levy. One of the main areas where the club needs to sell its players is in the goalkeeping department. The club has four good quality goalkeepers in the form of Hugo Lloris, Brad Friedel, Gomes, and Carlo Cudicini. Villas-Boas has said that he expects the club to sell at least one of the two reserve goalkeepers.
Meanwhile, the future of the players like Jermaine Jenas and David Bentley is also in doubt after the manager has said that he will be looking at the possibility of selling the loan players on a permanent basis. Jermaine Jenas has been on loan at this former club Nottingham Forest on a loan deal in order to recover his form. The player suffered a major injury while playing for Aston Villa last season and has not been the same since then. However, his short spell at Nottingham Forest has made him rediscover his form in recent weeks.
“With Gomes and Cudicini we will listen to proposals. (Chairman Daniel Levy and I) spoke about the January situation and the eventuality that we could look to strengthen the squad to be better. What came out of those conversations was that our level of focus is not to do a lot in January. We feel comfortable at the moment. Our squad will become big, even in terms of numbers, with the return of injured players,” said the Tottenham manager. Villas-Boas has guided his team to 3 successive wins in recent weeks.
